My 100 Things Purge Challenge is inspired by this other one I found on the net
100 Thing Challenge.
His is based on only keeping 100 Things, mine is based on purging 100 Things.
100 Thing Purge Rules
Items can be things that are sold, donated, freecycled, or thrown out.
Items can’t be things that are normal every day trash such as empty food wrappers or junk mail.
Items are counted differently based on whether they are sold and their size.
Sold Items:
Sold items are counted 1 for 1, regardless of size. No exceptions.
Note: Items that must be sold in a set, count as one item.
Donated or Tossed Items:
Large items are counted 1 for 1 regardless of how they are gotten rid of.
(ie. furniture, comforter, pots, pans, appliances, etc.)
Small items are counted by the cubic foot.
(ie. clothes, small toys, dishes, toiletries, etc.)
The Cubic Foot:
To measure a cubic foot, fill a box roughly 1′ X 1′ with the items being tossed. That will count as one item. The same applies to clothes. It is possible to eyeball a stack of clothes roughly 1 foot high. Get yourself a small box or bin roughly that size, it will make things easier.
The “Small Item”:
Any item you can put more than one of in a 1′ X 1′ box is a small item.
This doesn’t always mean something is considered “big” if it’s bigger than 6″ X 12″. It depends on the situation.
Ie, You could be throwing out random objects from your garage and have one largish item, and several smaller ones.
This is where having a box comes in handy. throw it in. When you consider it full, you have your one item.
More importantly, use your own common sense.
