ok, I really don’t mind telling all the details of an appointment cuz i’m not easily embarrassed but I won’t devulge much in case u readers would rather be spared. anyway, I’ll just say today was the first internal exam, he tested for group b strep ( u women who’ve had this done, let’s just say i didn’t know what was coming) and the man was brutal. and I T – H U R T – L I K E – A – B I T C H !!!!! but i’m over it now.

now for the news….

I’m 50% effaced and 1cm dialated. He said I will never make it to my due date and thinks I’ll have the baby within the next 2 or 3 weeks. EEEEEP!!!

He said to me “congradulations, you’re a perfect candidate for a vaginal birth. blah blah blah you’re like my wife…” LOL! and then he shook my hand. what a dork. I should have shaken his hand with a vice hold to take revenge on all that pain.

I’ve been having tons of contractions these last few days so i’m thinking he’s right. not real labor of course but a lot of them at any rate. after the exam i had like 5 of them within 2 hours. and some of them are getting more painful than usual. So now i’m in a rush to get everything done that has been left undone. some of it will have to go undone tho. unless the baby can stay put longer and make a liar out of the dr.

it’s almost 6am. have been up since about 5 – couldn’t sleep. ugh! i hate that. I should be in bed sleeping!

well, the baby shower yesterday was fun. there were so many people there including my second cousin yvette whom i hadn’t seen in about 3 years. (jeez time flies – seems like only yesterday her oldest daughter was making me watch telletubbies on vhs) she has 3 daughters and I had never met the yongest one. Hopefully (if i’m still able to walk that is) we’ll be going to her youngest’s 1yr birthday in a couple weeks.. Also got to see my cousin danny and meet his wife and daughter finally. (i had seen him recently, but not his fam)

we played baby shower games and stuffed our faces with food and cake, and the men with beer of course. Dennis filmed a lot of it, but I didn’t take many snap shots w/ my camera. I was too busy chatting the whole time. a couple good friends of mine from college showed up too. It was really cool.

Got TONS of stuff (mostly clothes) and at the end of opening all the gifts, someone says to me, “hey, i got a bunch of used stuff from my neighbor in my car, want it?” HELL YES I WANT IT! I got a bath tub bigger than the infant one we already have, a swing, and TONS of clothes TONS of shoes and sox. mind u most of it is winter garb which we may never use (unless we have an unusually cold winter this year) and all of it is the same size, but nonetheless free!!! woohoo! We should also be getting a basinet from yvette in 2 weeks too, which will be awesome since we’d been thinking about getting one anyway. just more stuff we won’t have to buy. woohoo!

I’ve uploaded the few pictures I took. some people didn’t even want to be photographed (who can understand them?) hope they don’t mind their photos on the open internet mwaahahahahaha!!!!

Baby Shower in Miami (June 29, 2003)

I’ve been up for about 3 hours now. printing photos of the nursery to take to miami. they’re dying to see it down there. Too bad my parents won’t be there. they canceled their flight because my step mother’s father is dying. He’s been in bad shape for months and months. I guess they must think the end is really near for him. I haven’t seen him in years.. i think since i was 25 which was in ’97 or something. He was a good man. i say ‘was’ cuz he’s already gone. has not been himself for months. I hope my stepmother’s mother will be able to cope without him.

anyway, i’ll have to pour water on dennis in a little while to get him up from bed. I want us to get there early around 2 pm.

i’m having some amount of trouble with my two smallest dogs scully and bullet. they’ve been shitting in the house everyday now for like 3 weeks! I don’t understand it. we let them out about 4 – 5 times a day. which is A LOT for them and we don’t feed them any more than usual. WHY ARE THEY SHITTING IN THE HOUSE!!! pisses me off so much. I’m thinking of locking them in a cage at night or in a bathroom or something. every morning, without fail, there is anywhere from 1 to 3 piles in the house. AAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!! If only i could shove a cork up their asses. we’ve already cleaned and disinfected everything .. not sure what else to do!

Even tho it isn’t 100% complete, it’s time to share.

Only things missing from it are the dresser knobs which still need to be sanded and painted purple and blue, and the window treatment. The wooden blinds will be spray painted white, and shear white curtains on top of that. Then a bit of touch up painting on that shelf that runs along the one wall. Then we be done!

Dennis’ uncle (who is a DAMN good artist) offered to paint a mural in the room. There is no room for a mural cuz the room is so tiny but he and his wife want to paint vines and bugs on the upper white half of the walls. That would be soo awesome. Not sure when he’ll be able to do it tho.

thing i like about it the most is how it’s so gender neutral. I don’t like a lot of froofroo pink frilly stuff for a girl.

Baby’s Nursery – After Pictures

I realized last night what the nurse was talking about when she said when your belly gets hard blah blah ..it’s a contraction. even tho i can’t feel any pain or discomfort from it, i kept getting it every time i got up to visit the can. really rock hard. I don’t care. D-day is coming soon so a few conx here and there is a good thing, imo. as long as it’s not real labor. did get a couple that hurt tho.

anyway, i’m back at work. working. sortof. not much to do other than go thru all this useless email and decide what to remove next.

The fam is throwing me a baby shower in miami on sunday. I wonder who will show up, and what they will get the baby. we have a lot of things already, but still need a few practical things like diapers (but not newborn diapers), clothes, toys, a swing. I think we’ll need to get a basinet too cuz the pack’nplay is too big to move from our bedroom and back on a daily basis. that thing won’t even fit thru the doorway without collapsing it first.

we got there at around 4:30-5pm. They got ahold of the doctor that was covering for mine and they hooked me up to a couple fetal monitors (one monitors contractions, the other monitors the baby’s heartrate) after an hour of monitoring and then an ultrasound, they determined there was nothing wrong with the baby at all. We were even able to see her “breathing” in there. it was amazing. I didn’t know they did that. Of course they’re not breathing air, only fluid, but it’s like she’s practicing for when the big day comes.

They said she just probably doesn’t have as much room to move around anymore since she’s growing and that that was normal. BUT they did notice that i was having sporatic contractions. I had what they said was an “irritable uterus”. they were not real labor contractions just an irritable kind of contracting. We could see the continuous peaks on the monitor. my belly was not completely calm for a siingle minute. :-O so they kept me there 3 hours more. they thought it could be caused by dehydration so they made me drink 2 pitchers of water (that was hard to do) and gave me a shot of tribituline when the water didn’t help. It calmed down a bunch, but never disappeared completely. I couldn’t feel any of those contractions tho. after 6 hours in the hospital they FINALLY let me go. we were both starving by then.

I was SO ready to get outta there and eat something! we stopped at friday’s on the way home. Just got home a little while ago.

the dr. said i needed to take it easy and rest for the next few days to prevent the contractions and to go see my obgyn on monday. I’m not too concerned about these at all really. hell, i have some i can feel that really hurt. these he’s talking about i wouldn’t have had any idea i was having them.

I got a really good picture of her face!! She’s got the chubbiest cheeks i’ve ever seen tho. and she looks pouty and mad. LOL. I had to rotate the picture and lighten it up a bit. hope it’s clear. my monitor is always set dark.
