as all you who have allowed me to bore you to death with my talk of the lawn know, we layed down new sod recently (like 3-4 weeks ago) and now it’s been dying and someone today gave me no hope for it. I don’t know why exactly it’s dying and am considering calling a pro in to look at it but i’m so resisting that idea. We’ve come this far without hiring anybody and really really wish I didn’t have to start now.
I want to fix it on my own but how can I if I don’t have the expertise to know what is causing it to die? Common sense and all the researching I’ve read online tell me Fungus, overwatering. I bought some stuff for the fugus but… how do I know for sure this will make any difference?
so so upsetting.
Sorry about the lawn, that sucks! I bet you can fix it on your own though..;)
Reply to grocerynipplesI have seen sod laid that “dies” and then comes back…like it has gone dormant (which looks dead) but is not really dead…not sure if that makes sense. I am not real sure though, since I have never had a lawn of my own. Keith might know something, I think he has laid sod with his dad at their house before…not sure though.
Reply to mydnytshadowcall a landscaper to come out and find out.
Is the whole peice of sod dying or is it starting in a circle and spreading out to the entire lawn? Is it in patches? Because it is so hot out and so dry its hard for me to imagine you over watered it until its dead. Did you try laying down any fertilizer?
How bad were you watering? Like was there a flood over the lawn? Was the water stagnent? Usually the lawn will die if its just sitting in a pool of water and the roots rot.
