still no power …

but at least i found someone to come and cut out our fallen tree tomorrow. garbage pick up is supposed to be friday but they said they wouldn’t be picking it up on friday. what are they waiting for? I dunno. we have about 4 feet of debris piled up on our swail all the way around already. and the tree isn’t even there yet.

hurricane aftermath

well, after spending 3 days in close quarters with my coworkers and their families I had had enough. We went home sunday evening to a hot, humid home with no power. We have water pressure, our phone started working again sometime yesterday, but we still have no power and have been like that since friday/saturday. How our neighborhood lost power BEFORE the storm hit is beyond me.

But anyway… we’re sweaty all the time, constantly taking showers and living in the dark with search lights and battery powered radio and playing uno and cards for entertainment. We spent a few hours cleaning up the mess yesterday which only gave me a terrible headache from the dehydration but we got a lot done. I’ll have to take pics of the piles and piles of trash we accumulated on our swail when i get home. Dennis was able to borrow a chainsaw from a neighbor so maybe we’ll be able to finish the clean up this week. we lost one tree, and another is leaning a bit .. I’m hoping it can be straightened out instead of removed. we’ll see..

so for your entertainment, I have before and after pics of our house. The first 2 are before pics.

prepped for the hurricane

the house is boarded up and I’m gonna pack our things tonight and tomorrow morning we’re driving somewhere closeby to ride the hurricane out.. The thing I’m nost afraid of is tornados. may the hurricane be lenient on our house and the tornados stay far far away.
