Bad Parenting

null

The decluttering frenzy has begun again

My freecycling frenzied self has returned.. well, I haven’t actually started freecycling anything but I have been throwing away quite a lot of crap. I’m trying to keep the freecycling/donating for last since that is more time consuming than just throwing shit out. We still have way too much crap. Now that we can’t use the guest bedroom as our storage unit anymore, and it can’t all go in the garage either, it (stuff we haven’t used in years and probably never will again) will have to leave the house.

I’m trying my best not to run outta steam or pick up old bad habits such as lazying around the house after work. That’s the best way for me to lose motivation.

Today’s full morning…

I was so “on a roll” by the time I made it to work, I should have just taken the whole day off. Took the first half of the day off to take care of some personal things but I got on that “get my shit squared away” mode, I couldn’t change gears to “get work shit squared away”.

We’re a few steps closer to refinancing the car. basically we’ll be going from 7.99% down to 4.75% ( and if lucky a 4.5%) interest rate. It’s taken a lot of leg work but in the end we ended up just down the hall from work. LOL! Next we need to have the car serviced, have a couple recalls taken care of.. blah blah blah. but that all happens on the weekend so I should be able to focus on other stuff now.

The house adjuster came this morning to “adjust” the house.. or whatever you call it. :D he climbed up on the roof, measured it, went in the back yard, measured all the fences, went into the back, looked at the screened in patio, then he left. He was the nicest adjuster I’ve ever had to deal with.. basically *all* the fence has to be replaced.. ALL of it.. and goddam there’s a lot of it. The entire screened in patio frame thingy has to be torn down and replaced, and I also told him about 3 exterior lights that got damaged and our sprinkler system that got torn up by the tree roots. He said it’d take 3-4 weeks before we get a letter in the mail with a check. then I said.. “um, our deductible is 4k!” and he goes “oh don’t worry it’s gonna be more than 4k..”

WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I just hope we’re not talking of something like $4001.50 cuz then i couldn’t even buy a caramel macchiatto :/

THEN, we took off to the obgyn to get an u/s. The lady said everything looked great. then we asked her OK OK OK, SHUT UP ALREADY AND TELL US WHAT THE SEX OF THE BABY IS, WILL YA?!!! (well, not really but that’s what I was saying inside). she looked and looked and zoomed and changed the angle of the view and looked and she just Fing took forEVER. I know what girl parts look like on an u/s so I just knew. I turned to dennis and told him “she’s gonna tell us it’s a girl”. and guess what?! It’s a Girl! lol!

I still would have liked to have a boy (i still would like to think I could have a son one day) but initial disappointment aside, I’m becoming more excited now about having another girl. I’m happy that Jada gets to have a sister because sisters tend to be closer to eachother than brother/sister and they are closer to the parents than boys tend to be after adulthood (unless you really fuck them up, that is). And they will share more things through the years, etc, etc.. not to mention we’ve got enough girl clothes to clothe twins if we had to.

so we don’t need a *single* thing for this baby. NADA! except, of course, for diapers and *maybe* a new infant car seat because J’s been sitting in the heat for 1.5 years and it’s said this damages the strength of the plastic and they only good for 3 years anyway no matter where you keep it. so if we don’t want to take chances….

We even already have new furniture for J so we can move her out of the “baby” room. We just need to paint, carpet, etc, etc, etc.

18 weeks down 22 to go. or… could be another early birht like J and it could be 20 to go…

ok, now i’m just rambling… ;)

Behind Door #3: A NEW CAR!!!

I woke up at 4:45am thanks to D’s snoring. Dammit I swear i musta nudged him and pushed on him about 10 times. I can’t sleep. … but now that I have this migraine I’m getting tired again. But anyways… here’s the low down on our weekend thus far.

We went out today/yesterday on a mission to go car shopping then grocery shopping to fill our very empty fridge. D had put together a stack of printouts of minivans from dealerships with maps and organized them in the order we’d be going to see them. Then we hit maroone dodge first. They had a used 2003 odyssey on their lot and we looked at it, got in it, D test drove it while i babysat back at the dealership. We liked it, it handled well, was clean… (i wanted so bad to get an odyssey so that’s all i wanted to look at) but the price was in the 20k range and couldn’t seem to haggle it down fast enough. We could have still afforded that but we wanted to stay as close as possible to the bottom of our price range. After all we now have TWO cars we need to buy. The sales guy mentioned there was another odyssey at their other lot across the street that was a 2002 with less miles than the one we were looking at and had more bells and whistles still. so we went to look at it.

the price was right at around 18k, way below blue book value, only one previous owner, no surprises on carfax, it had leather interior, dvd player, dual power side doors (the kind that slide open of course), power everything, alloy wheels, 34k miles, perfect interior, so on and so forth. D took it for a test drive. Aside from the steering being a little stiff, it was good. So after a painful time agonizing over it, fretting over the ’stiff’ steering (probably due to those fat tires), haggling it down (or trying to) and dealing with a very tired, hungry, and combative 2 year old. (GOD THAT WAS HARD!!) we decided to buy it. :-D we put more than half down and after a stack of paperwork, we brought it home and piled into it and watched a little elmo’s world on the dvd player while I played with all the controls in the front. I haven’t had the pleasure of driving it yet tho because i’m not on the ins yet. (we decided to use D’s ins which i’m not on … yet)

Now begins our job of finding a final ins. co. and refinancing it. I swear dealerships do a shit job of getting good interest rates. soooo… we got ourselves a minivan and it’s sweet! wooo!! This is like a luxury vehicle for us now compared to D’s stink bucket and I still loved my honda but that’s no longer something we can have. I’m still feeling nervous about this purchase tho because I’ve never bought a used car before and I’m just so afraid something is going to go wrong. I’m so afraid it will have mechanical problems but thankfully against what we thought was money wasted we decided to get an extended warranty on it for 3 years. anything goes wrong the dealership will fix it. sigh…. I guess I’m just upset that we have a car payment now.. But the minivan is still nice as hell and I’m so happy we have it. As long as it’s in solid condition (we’re going to have it looked at by our mechanic later today) I will be happy and hopefully stop being afraid.

I’ll post a pic of it soon. but it’s basically your standard silver honda odyssey you see on the streets every day. :D Oh and my favorite part is that the 3rd row of seats folds down into the floor … NOW WE CAN HAUL LARGE STUFF! AND GO TO YARD SALES AND ANTIQUE STORES AND *BUY* STUFF! AND BRING THEM HOME!!!! LOLLLL!!!!! FOR YEARS I SOOOO WANTED TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT!!! ok, nuff yelling… ;)

Next, we go shopping for the second car. Not as important as this one was, we just want something in good condition mechanically and cheep! because we’ll be paying that one in full with the money we get for our 2 totalled cars.. (thank you wilma) Hell no I ain’t having 2 car payments! pffft… I rather skateboard to work than have 2 car payments!

Laundry Overload ‘N Trees

I think I’ve reached and exceeded some kind of record for loads of laundry washed and folded in a single week. Let’s see… I’m now at 13 loads completed start to finish with one last load to go tonight. Well i *think* it will be the last one. Everytime I think I’m finished I find more shit needing to get washed. oops, make that 2 more loads tonight. :D

4 loads of clothes
4 loads for bathroom rugs (5 rugs total)
3 loads for comforters
2 load for pillows
1 load of sheets
1 load of sheets with more clothes

ok, what else….. there are 3 guys at the house right now cutting up our trees. 16 maybe 17 trees total (i’m always losing count). I wish I was there to see the work and to make sure they didn’t forget something to cut up a tree we want to keep!

Jada’s halloween costume, baby #2 and power

Here’s one photo of Jada’s gettup for halloween.

witchypose

I LOVE that shot. …could only have been better if she were looking at the camera..
Anyways. Like I said in my last post, she had a lot of fun and even more candy. :)

In other news, I was scheduled to have my “big” ultrasound yesterday after 3pm and I was SOOO looking forward to finding out the sex of this baby but goddam my luck ran out, I guess, and the receptionist called to cancel it. I was SOOO pissed off!! Apparently the roof of the building they’re in caved in couple nights ago and they’re now moving the entire office to a new building. It’s a HUGE office too, might I add. So I was looking at about 3 more weeks before I could get to find out the sex of the baby. :( But thankfully my pushy self managed to get an appt. at their other location in Boynton for next week Wednesday. WOOHOOOO!!! That’s the same day the adjuster will be coming out to look at our house. Man it’s gonna feel so good to see a couple important things get done finally!!

We got power back 2 days ago and I felt confused.. thought for a moment someone had hooked up a big ‘ol generator to our house or something. I totally wasn’t expecting we’d get power till at least the end of this week. But it’s back, THANK GOD!, and first thing I did was start on laundry. So far, i’ve done 4 loads of clothes, one load of sheets, another 2 of bathroom rugs. I have 3 more to do then I’ll be all caught up. sigh…
