Welcome to my blog(s)!
About Digsite
This is where I recap whatever mundane happenings of my life I find worthy enough to be remembered. Or more interestingly, where I express my thoughts and “get it off my chest” whenever the need arises. Feel free to read on.
Disclaimer: If I know you, there is a slight chance I may have written, or might in the future write, something disagreeable about you or someone close to you. Should that ever happen, I’d like to say in advance that I’m sorry you read it …but never sorry I wrote it!!
About Digsite – The fatblog
The fatblog was born in December 2006. It’s a place to vent about my fitness efforts should I ever need to (and I’m sure I will). I will be logging my progress there on a weekly basis.
Why am I fat?
I gained 40lbs between January 2000 and December 2006 (the birth of my fatblog). So between seven years of abandon and two pregnancies the weight slowly increased. Today I want to do something to get closer to my pre-2000 weight of 145lbs. I’m not sure how close I’ll get, I only know that I want to feel more comfortable, be healthier, and have more energy.
About Digsite – The photoblog
I’ve always wanted to learn a little more about photography so I am. I am taking short courses here and there when I can make the time. I post my photos (old and new) on the photoblog whenever I get the chance.
My Bio
Short Version
(See sidebar Bio)
Long Version
I was born in 1972 in Queens, New York to Cuban parents. I’m the second of their two kids. After my mother’s death when I was three, my father remarried.. and then remarried again ..and again. So including my father’s interludes before and after my mother, I have one sister and three brothers.
At 14, I moved down to Miami, FL to live with my paternal grandparents. It was either that or move to Dominican Republic where my father had decided to (semi-)retire. The decision was left to me and I thought of it like having to choose between watching Miami Vice and watching naked bloated-belly kids on the street begging for a chunk of ice on the public channel. Yah! Real hard choice. Soo I lived in Miami under the contstraints of my ever so worried about everything grandmother for years and years. It was still worth staying in the US.
At 25, my dad and his brother decided to sell my grandmother’s house and move her in with their sister so I was forced to go looking for a place of my own. I moved into an apartment an hour north to be closer to my job.
I wished I had been forced out sooner because as scary as moving out into the real world was, it was about time and it was the best thing I had ever done. The time I lived on my own was the best of my entire life. I had a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science by then and I had a good job so didn’t have to struggle.
At 28, I met my husband and we got married two years later. We got pregnant, moved into our new house and got married all in a 2 month period. It was an exciting time for me. We now have two daughters ages 6 years (Jada) and 4 years (Maya), two dogs (Appa & Bullet), a bearded dragon (Kosh), and a turtle I keep at work (Mr. Happy).
I’m 38 and my hubby is 33. We both work for the same webhosting company as systems administrators. He and I have been there for 8 and 10 years respectively. He works with Microsoft Windows and I with Unix. Between our two departments we administer over two thousand web and support servers of every kind across several U.S. states and other countries including Italy, Britain, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, and Germany. So we’re a house full of geeks especially now that both our kids can surf the net. LOL!
